Now We’re Cooking to Move in January

 As Seen in Albuquerque Journal

After 23 years in the same location, a popular Albuquerque kitchen store is ready to mix things up.

Now We’re Cooking will move northward in January, leaving its longtime home at Academy and Wyoming NE for new digs at Paseo del Norte and Wyoming NE.

Now We’re Cooking will remain in its current storefront at 5901 Wyoming NE through the holidays but will likely complete the transition in mid-January, according to Nancy Herring, who owns the store with husband Matthew Segura.

Work already has begun on the new space, which she said is slightly smaller than the current shop.

“It will be more efficient; it will be bright, cheery. … I’m very excited,” Herring said. “It’s time for a change.”

Now We’re Cooking will absorb two vacant suites at La Cueva Town Center, according to NAI Maestas & Ward Retail adviser Calder Conrad. Conrad and colleague Clayton King represented the landlord in the deal.

He said the store “was such a good fit for the landlord.” Other retailers in the shopping center include Smith’s, Big 5 Sporting Goods and Dion’s. Azuma Sushi & Teppan is also working on a new location in the center.

Now We’re Cooking has spent the past 23 years in its existing home, North Town Plaza, watching neighbors come and go. The shopping center’s current lineup includes Home Goods, an off-price housewares chain, but Herring said its presence hadn’t hurt her store’s business.

“No, not really,” she said. “We are probably the longest tenant in this shopping center.”
